TEMPE, Ariz. – The Cal Poly Humboldt women's triathlon team will cap off its historic 2025 season on Saturday, Nov. 8, when it competes at the 2025 Women's Collegiate Triathlon National Championships at Tempe Town Lake in Tempe, Ariz. Hosted by Arizona State University, the event will bring together top programs from across multiple NCAA divisions with national titles on the line.
LAST TIME OUT
The Lumberjacks are coming off a program-defining performance at the NCAA West Regional Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, where they earned a podium finish. Humboldt placed third overall among Division II programs with 269 points, led by a pair of top-10 finishers in Averill Payne and Poppy Edge.
Payne finished eighth overall (1:10:53.71, 61 points), while Edge followed closely in ninth (1:12:01.33, 60 points). Teagan Farrell (12th, 1:12:58.63), and twins Anna (18th, 1:14:04.61) and Emma Hanstveit (19th, 1:14:51.32) rounded out the scoring five, helping secure the Green and Gold's historic team podium.
Depth was key for Humboldt, with Rylee Morris taking top Division II honors in Heat 1 and additional strong performances from Eve Wendley, Evelyn Higgins, Alexa Blakely, and Camille Shaver. The milestone result solidified Humboldt's reputation as one of the fastest-rising Division II programs in the country.
NCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
This year's NCAA National Championships will take place at Tempe Town Lake, a familiar triathlon hub known for its flat, yet fast course and vibrant race atmosphere. The championship race will follow the standard sprint-distance format: a 750-meter swim, 12-mile bike, and 3.1-mile run.
Head coach Kinsey Mattison and the Jacks will line up against elite competition from across the nation, including several teams ranked inside the top 10 of the CTCA Division II poll. With Payne, Edge, Farrell, and the Hanstveit twins anchoring a deep lineup, Humboldt will look to close its breakout season with another strong team showing on the national stage.
