ARCATA, Calif. — Cal Poly Humboldt Wrestling suffered its first setback of the 2025–26 season on Friday night inside Lumberjack Arena, falling 30–11 to visiting CSU Pueblo. The loss moves the Lumberjacks to 5–1 on the year, while the ThunderWolves earned their first dual victory of the season, improving to 1–1.
Despite the defeat, the highlight of the evening came at 149 pounds, where Jayson Victoria electrified the home crowd with a dominant performance. Victoria needed just 43 seconds to pin Thales Rivas, delivering the fastest fall of the night and one of the Lumberjacks' brightest moments.
Humboldt's other regulation victory came at 133 pounds, where Benjamin Quilpa turned in a commanding 17–2 technical fall over Julian Espinoza at 6:27.
Several matches went down to the wire—including tight decisions at 141, 157, 165, 174, and 197—though momentum ultimately favored the ThunderWolves, who claimed seven bouts to secure the dual victory.
