MONMOUTH, Ore. – Cal Poly Humboldt men's soccer wrapped up its non-conference Oregon road trip with a 3-0 setback against Western Oregon on Saturday afternoon at WOU Turf Field.
The Wolves (3-1-0) struck just before halftime, breaking through in the 45th minute when Yahir Ocampo Navarro converted off an assist from Harper Neubeck. Western Oregon extended its lead in the 58th minute on a goal from Evan Huber before sealing the match in the 86th minute with a strike by Reise Corpuz, assisted by D'kaprio Tejeda-Martinez.
Despite a strong defensive effort, the Lumberjacks (2-3-1) were limited to just two shots on the day, while Western Oregon recorded 17, including nine on target. Humboldt goalkeeper Edwin Monterrosa made six saves to keep the Jacks within reach throughout the contest.
Harper Thweatt picked up a caution for Humboldt in the first half, while the match remained physical on both sides with each team committing 12 fouls.
The Lumberjacks will now shift their focus to the final week of non-conference play as they prepare for a road trip to Cal State Monterey Bay on Thursday evening at 7pm.
