HONOLULU, Hawai'i – Cal Poly Humboldt volleyball continued its season-opening road trip on Friday with a pair of matches, falling to UCCS and Hawai'i Hilo at the Hawai'i Challenge. The Lumberjacks showed grit and flashes of strong individual performances throughout the day as they look to find that momentum heading into their last game of the tournament.
In their morning matchup, the Jacks lost 3-0 to UCCS. After a slow start, Humboldt battled back and was aggressive in the third set, tallying 11 kills and 31 attacks, nearly double their total from the previous two sets. Third-year Graysen Trupp led the attack with a team-high nine kills while freshman outside hitter Addison Bookstaber added six kills and tied for the team lead with two blocks. Brielle Wilson kept the offense moving with seven assists, also adding four digs and an ace.
In the night game, Humboldt faced the Vulcans and fell short. First-year middle blocker Isabella Hartwig led the way offensively with six kills while sophomore Sadie Scott chipped in five. Wilson again directed the attack with 10 assists while adding four digs, and senior Sophia Spoja anchored the back row with a team-best nine digs.
