Lumberjacks Hold Golden Eagles Scoreless in 0-0 Defensive Showdown

ARCATA, Calif. - Ari Beddoes made six saves and the Cal Poly Humboldt women's soccer team recorded its second consecutive shutout in a 0-0 draw against Cal State Los Angeles on Friday afternoon at College Creek Field.

The result moved Humboldt to 5-3-3 overall and 3-1-1 in CCAA play.

The Lumberjacks created the first scoring opportunities of the match. Hayden Anderson placed a shot on goal in the 21st minute before Heidie Munoz tested Cal State LA goalkeeper Kendyl Sumlin two minutes later.
Beddoes made her first save in the 43rd minute to send the match into halftime scoreless.

Cal State LA increased its pressure after the break, but Beddoes stopped five second-half attempts. She made consecutive saves during the 47th and 55th minutes before adding stops in the 69th, 75th and 83rd minutes.

Humboldt continued searching for the breakthrough. Munoz placed another attempt on target in the 60th minute, while Lucy Al-Chokhachy and Nicole Beauchemin generated three shots during the final seven minutes.

Neither side found the decisive goal as Humboldt secured its third scoreless draw of the season. Beddoes completed her second straight shutout after also blanking Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sunday.

Cal State LA finished with an 11-10 advantage in shots and placed six attempts on goal compared to three for Humboldt. The Golden Eagles held an 8-1 edge in corner kicks.

Beauchemin led the Lumberjacks with three shots. Munoz, Al-Chokhachy and Charlotte Alvarez recorded two attempts apiece.

The draw extended Humboldt's home unbeaten streak to four matches and gave the Lumberjacks 10 points through their first five CCAA contests.
