Lumberjacks Resume CCAA Play For Cal State LA Matchup, Cal Poly Clash

ARCATA, Calif. - The Cal Poly Humboldt volleyball team returns to the road this week for a pair of CCAA matches in Southern California.

The Lumberjacks will face Cal State Los Angeles on Friday, Oct. 30, at 5 p.m. inside the Cal State LA Gymnasium. Humboldt will then travel to Pomona for the Cal Poly Clash against Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 2 p.m. inside Kellogg Arena.

LAST TIME OUT

Humboldt enters the weekend with a 10-9 overall record and a 4-5 mark in CCAA play following a five-set victory at UC Merced.

The Lumberjacks claimed the opening two sets, 25-18 and 25-20, before the Bobcats forced a deciding frame with victories in the third and fourth. Humboldt responded in the fifth set and secured the match with a 15-12 win.

Addison Bookstaber led the attack with 18 kills and added seven digs and three block assists. Graysen Trupp finished with 16 kills while hitting .273, and Phoebe Bland recorded seven kills on 12 attempts for a .500 hitting percentage.

Tatyana Jennings contributed six kills, seven digs, two solo blocks and a service ace. Brielle Wilson and Claire Crawford combined for 44 assists, with Crawford also collecting a team-high 14 digs.

Humboldt finished the match with 59 kills, eight service aces, 67 digs and 10 total blocks.

FRIDAY AT CAL STATE LA

The Lumberjacks will open the trip Friday against Cal State LA.

The Golden Eagles most recently pushed nationally ranked Cal State San Bernardino to five sets. Cal State LA won two of the opening three frames before the Coyotes rallied to take the fourth and fifth sets.

Friday's match will begin the second half of Humboldt's CCAA schedule and provide the Lumberjacks with an opportunity to build on their five-set road victory at UC Merced.

CAL POLY CLASH

Humboldt will complete the weekend Saturday afternoon against No. 14 Cal Poly Pomona in the Cal Poly Clash.

The Broncos enter the week nationally ranked and recently recorded a straight-set victory over Cal State East Bay. Cal Poly Pomona is hitting .252 as a team this season while averaging 14 kills and 12.92 assists per set.

Saturday's meeting will continue the Cal Poly Clash series between the two universities and close Humboldt's four-match road swing.
