SPOKANE, Wash. – The Cal Poly Humboldt men's track & field team put together a productive three-day showing at the Riverfront Invitational & Multis indoor meet, highlighted by personal bests in the heptathlon, new indoor-program records, and Division II-ranked marks in the field events.
Day 1 - Thursday
The Lumberjacks opened the meet with a solid start in the men's heptathlon, led by freshman Collin Friedman, who delivered four steady performances to set the tone for the week.
Friedman clocked 7.43 seconds in the 60-meter dash, followed by a 6.32m (20-9) long jump. He added a throw of 10.66m (34-11.75) in the shot put before closing Day 1 with a season-best clearance of 1.73m (5-8) in the high jump.
Day 2 - Friday
Day 2 featured continued progress in the heptathlon and strong performances across the track and field events.
Friedman posted personal bests in both remaining heptathlon events, running 9.32 in the 60-meter hurdles and finishing the 1000m in 2:55.16, marking another PR to close out the multi-event competition. His heptathlon performance this weekend ranks him second in program history (indoor).
In the field, freshman Alexander Dillon delivered one of the top performances of the day, clearing a season-best and new indoor-program record 1.95m (6-4.75) in the high jump to finish third overall.
The Lumberjacks saw multiple solid efforts in the sprints, led by Jamie Saunders, who ran a personal-best and second-best in indoor program history 22.20 in the 200 meters. Cameron Bishop followed with a season-best 22.32, while Bennett Feldenkirchen posted a 22.59.
On the runway, Joey Bowser recorded a mark of 5.53m (18-1.75) in the long jump, while Ryan Giglio ran 1:59.82 in the 800 meters.
Friedman returned to the field late in the day to clear 4.34m (14-2.75) in the pole vault as part of the heptathlon.
Day 3 - Saturday
Cal Poly Humboldt closed out the Riverfront Invitational & Multis with a strong final day highlighted by top-three finishes, Division II marks, and a standout relay performance.
Joseph Gonzalez led the way in the throws, placing third in the shot put with a season-best and new indoor-program record 16.11m (52-10.25) — a mark that ranks No. 52 in Division II this season. Teammate Derek Ray added a season-best throw of 15.13m (49-7.75) to finish ninth.
In the triple jump, junior Paul Domingue III recorded a personal-best and indoor-program record leap of 14.26m (46-9.50) to place fifth overall and earn a No. 73 Division II mark.
The pole vault delivered another strong showing, as sophomore Michael Payan won the event with a clearance of 4.95m (16-2.75). Friedman followed with a personal-best 4.50m (14-9) to place fourth.
On the track, freshman Cameron Bishop continued his breakout meet by running a personal-best 7.06 in the 60-meter prelims, while Alonzo Paul clocked 7.16. In the 400 meters, Saunders led the Lumberjacks with a time of 49.66, followed closely by Bennett Feldenkirchen's new PR at 49.69 and Bowser at 50.81.
Ryan Giglio added a third-place finish in the 600 meters, running 1:23.37.
The meet concluded with a strong showing in the 4x400 relay, where the Humboldt quartet of Bishop, Feldenkirchen, Bowser, and Saunders finished second in 3:18.40, earning a new indoor program record and a No. 47 Division II mark.

Next weekend, the Lumberjacks will continue their indoor season with a visit to Allendale, Mich. for the GVSU Big Meets, a two-day, two-meet schedule, starting on Friday, Feb. 13.
