Domingue Breaks Program Record, Claims CCAA Triple Jump Title; Pearson Earns Decathlon Silver

SAN MARCOS, Calif. — Cal Poly Humboldt men's track & field delivered a standout Day Two performance Friday at the CCAA Championships, highlighted by a conference title, a program record and a decathlon podium finish.

Paul Domingue III led the way in the men's triple jump, capturing the CCAA Championship with a new program-record mark of 14.70 meters, or 48 feet, 2.75 inches (previous record held by Jaye Washington in 2019, 47' 9"). The first-place finish earned Humboldt 10 team points and gave Domingue III a gold medal performance on the conference stage.

Bryce Pearson also earned a podium finish for the Lumberjacks, claiming silver in the decathlon after two days of competition. Pearson finished with a personal-best score of 6,522 points and placed in the Top-5 in six of the 10 events to secure eight team points. Collin Friedman also scored in the decathlon, finishing fifth with 6,297 points.

In the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, Trevor Stewart placed sixth with a time of 9:31.34 to add three points for Humboldt. Stewart had a thrilling come from behind race to earn points for the 'Jacks. 

The Lumberjacks also scored in the hammer throw, with Adam Gomez placing seventh at 47.71 meters and Benjamin Feldstein finishing eighth at 47.09 meters.

On the track, Alonzo Paul advanced in the 200-meter dash prelims, placing eighth in 21.54 seconds. Cameron Bishop finished ninth in 21.60, Tosh Woods placed 16th in 21.95 and Adam Smith finished 22nd in 22.49.

In the 800-meter prelims, Ryan Giglio qualified for the final with an eighth-place finish in 1:54.87. Keegan Henry was ninth in 1:55.12, Hunter Phillips placed 10th in 1:56.48, Saul Jimenez was 12th in 1:57.33, Elias Wiggins finished 18th in 2:02.62, James Woolery was 22nd in 2:05.79 and Nicholas Woolery finished 23rd in 2:11.23.

Walker Dorris advanced in the 110-meter hurdles, finishing seventh in 15.20 seconds, while Jevon Cloy placed ninth in 15.43.

Through seven scored men's events, Cal Poly Humboldt sits third in the team standings with 40 points heading into Saturday.
