AZUSA, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt track & field closed out the regular season in emphatic fashion at the APU Franson Last Chance Meet (May 7–9), highlighted by record-breaking performances from Joseph Gonzalez and Paul Domingue III, who each surpassed their own school records while hitting NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks.
Gonzalez delivered a standout performance in the men's shot put, placing second overall with a school-record toss of 17.23 meters (56' 6.5"). The junior improved upon his previous program best and secured an NCAA Division II provisional mark with his top throw, which came on his final attempt after consistently strong marks throughout the series.
Domingue III also etched his name deeper into the Lumberjack record book in the men's triple jump, finishing second with a leap of 14.78 meters (48' 6"). The senior not only broke his own school record but also achieved an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark for the first time in his career, capping a breakthrough performance on his final jump of the competition.
On the track, Alonzo Paul represented Humboldt in both sprint events, clocking 10.89 in the 100-meter preliminaries and 21.67 in the 200 meters, continuing his strong presence in the Lumberjack sprint group.
In the combined events, Collin Friedman competed in the decathlon, finishing 11th overall with 4,085 points to round out Humboldt's efforts across the multi-day meet.
The Lumberjacks now await postseason selections as Gonzalez and Domingue III position themselves among the top competitors in NCAA Division II with their record-setting marks.
