ARCATA, Calif. - Cal Poly Humboldt Women's Soccer rallied from an early deficit to defeat Southern Oregon 3-1 Thursday afternoon at College Creek Field in the Lumberjacks' second exhibition match of the season. Humboldt scored three unanswered goals after Southern Oregon opened the scoring just over two minutes into the match.
Southern Oregon wasted no time setting the tone, taking a 1-0 lead in the third minute when Ava Johnson scored off an assist from Brycelin Endrikat. The Lumberjacks quickly responded, however, as
Ashley Vigil found the back of the net in the 24th minute off an assist from
Heidie Munoz to even the match at 1-1.
Humboldt continued to apply pressure and took its first lead in the 38th minute. Aliyah Huynh scored off an assist from
Hayden Anderson, giving the Lumberjacks a 2-1 advantage heading into halftime.
The Lumberjacks continued their offensive pressure after the break and added an insurance goal in the 75th minute. Anderson found the back of the net off an assist from
Isis-Jade Bryant, extending Humboldt's lead to 3-1.
Humboldt dominated the statistical battle throughout the match, outshooting Southern Oregon 21-6 and putting 11 shots on target compared to three for the Raiders. The Lumberjacks also held an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks and controlled 58 percent of possession.
The Lumberjacks' defense settled in after Southern Oregon's early goal, keeping the Raiders off the scoreboard for the final 87 minutes.
Izzy Boudreaux started in goal and earned the win after playing the first 45 minutes, while
Ari Beddoes played the second half and recorded two saves.
The victory gives Humboldt its second exhibition win of the preseason as the Lumberjacks continue preparing for the start of the 2026 regular season.
