MCKINLEYVILLE, Calif. - Freshman Amaya Uvalle won the individual title and the Cal Poly Humboldt women's cross country team placed all five of its scorers inside the top 10 to capture the Jim Hunt Invitational team championship Saturday morning at Beau Pre Golf Club.
Uvalle completed the women's 6K in 22:45.3, finishing more than 43 seconds ahead of the next competitor in her collegiate debut. Fellow freshman
Sally Woodruff followed with a third-place finish in 23:30.7.
Analise Miller gave Humboldt three runners inside the top five, crossing in 23:41.6 to place fifth overall. Freshman
Samantha Brink finished eighth in 23:59.3, while
Lyla Fedio completed the Lumberjacks' scoring group with a 10th-place finish in 24:08.0.
Humboldt finished with 24 points to secure the team championship, placing 10 points ahead of Southwestern Oregon Community College. Oregon Tech finished third with 71 points.
The Lumberjacks' five scoring runners earned adjusted places of first, third, fourth, seventh and ninth. Three freshmen contributed to the team score, including the first two Humboldt runners across the finish line.
Humboldt also received strong performances throughout its lineup.
Ariana Garcia placed 13th in 24:20.6, while MJ Fitzgerald recorded a personal-best time of 24:23.8 to finish 14th.
Nayeli Huynh followed in 16th with a time of 24:35.7, and
Jaslynn Harris completed her first collegiate race in 26:10.8.
The team victory marked a successful beginning to Humboldt's 2026 season and gave the Lumberjacks their second consecutive Jim Hunt Invitational championship.

The Lumberjacks will return to action Saturday, Sept. 26, when they compete at the Mike Johnson Classic at Ash Creek Preserve in Monmouth, Oregon.
