Lucy Al-Chokhachy scored the decisive goal and
Ari Beddoes recorded seven saves as Cal Poly Humboldt women's soccer defeated Cal State East Bay 1-0 Sunday afternoon during Youth Day at College Creek Field.
Humboldt established the lead in the 11th minute. Al-Chokhachy found the back of the net with an unassisted strike, giving the Lumberjacks an early 1-0 advantage.
The goal was Al-Chokhachy's first of the season and ultimately stood as the match-winner.
Cal State East Bay placed four shots on target during the opening half, but Beddoes stopped each attempt to preserve Humboldt's lead heading into the break.
The Lumberjacks increased their offensive pressure during the second half, producing seven shots over the final 45 minutes.
Natalie Wenner placed two attempts on target, while
Hayden Anderson added another.
Humboldt's defense protected the one-goal margin as East Bay searched for an equalizer. Beddoes made three more saves after halftime, including the final stop in the 86th minute, to complete their second consecutive home victory.
The Lumberjacks finished with an 11-9 advantage in total shots, while the Pioneers held a 7-4 edge in shots on goal. Humboldt earned three corner kicks and limited the Pioneers to three.
Beddoes' seven saves marked a season high and secured their second shutout of the campaign.
The victory improved Humboldt to 4-2-2 overall and 2-0 in CCAA play.

The Lumberjacks will travel to Cal State San Bernardino for a CCAA matchup Friday, Sept. 25. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Premier Field.
