CARSON, Calif. - The Cal Poly Humboldt men's soccer team closed its Southern California road trip with a 4-0 loss to Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sunday afternoon at Dignity Health Sports Park.
The result moved Humboldt to 2-5-3 overall and 1-3 in CCAA play.
Cal State Dominguez Hills opened the scoring in the fourth minute before adding another goal at the 15:57 mark. Humboldt generated three shots during the opening half, including an attempt on goal from
Robert Somerville in the 26th minute, but entered halftime trailing 2-0.
The Lumberjacks recorded four additional shots after the break.
Vince Warren produced Humboldt's first attempt of the second half in the 46th minute, while
Dominik Chipp,
Azis Camerrer and Somerville also generated opportunities during the closing 16 minutes.
The Toros extended the margin with goals in the 74th and 85th minutes.
Benjamin McDonald played all 90 minutes in goal for Humboldt and finished with 10 saves, recording five in each half.
Cal State Dominguez Hills held a 20-7 advantage in shots and placed 14 attempts on target. Humboldt earned two corner kicks and recorded seven fouls.
Chipp and Somerville led the Lumberjacks with two shots apiece.
Harper Thweatt, Camerrer and Warren each added one attempt.

The Lumberjacks will return to College Creek Field on Friday, Oct. 2, to host Cal State Los Angeles at 3 p.m. Humboldt will then welcome Cal Poly Pomona on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 2 p.m.
