ARCATA- Errors limited the Humboldt State volleyball team as they fell in three sets to nationally ranked No. 3 Cal State San Bernardino, Saturday.

The Jacks overall record dropped to 9-16 and 7-11 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play, while the Coyotes improved their overall record to 22-3 and 14-3 in the CCAA.

Early in the first set the Jacks came within in two points of the Coyotes at 6-4 after back-to-back kills from Toni Kroeker and Joliann Arzadon. A kill from Lynsey Adams and a blocking error on the Coyotes' Sara Rice wasn't enough to hold off Cal State San Bernardino as they took the set 25-11.

Set two showed the Jacks trailing the Coyotes by two early on until three errors on the Jacks gave the Coyotes the surge they needed to secure the set 25-16.

CSU San Bernardino's .435 hitting percentage ended the night as they took set three 25-14. The Coyotes took an early 9-3 lead to start the set with big kills and taking advantage of the HSU's errors.

“We played poorly tonight,” Humboldt State head volleyball coach Sue Woodstra said. “We didn't play to our normal potential and we made a lot of errors.”

Adams and Dani Nelson tallied 10 digs apiece, while Adams led the team with eight kills and Liz Shannon dished out 14 assists.

Saramantha Middleborn paced CSU San Bernardino with a .667 hitting percentage (seven kills), while Rice tallied a team-high nine kills with a .533 hitting percentage. Sara Hoffman contributed 33 assists and Meghan Haas tallied a team-high 17 digs.

The Lumberjacks conclude its season at home next week as they host the Sonoma State Seawolves and the UC San Diego Tritons Wednesday and Friday nights, respectively. Both matches are set to begin at 7 p.m.
