Johnson's Comments
“We have certainly not done ourselves any favors in the last three weeks, but we are not getting blown out in any of these games.  We have played into overtime in five of our last seven matches. Two of those were ties and the other three were losses.  Injuries have come back to haunt us, but the bottom line is we are not finishing our chances.  In order to turn things around we need to take advantage of the opportunities we work for and those that are given to us.   We had those chances this weekend and we didn't get it done.  Tactically on defense and offensively up to the 18, we are playing good possession soccer, we are just not closing the deal when we get the chance.” … “(Cal State) Stanislaus will be difficult.  We will be without both our starting forwards, so we will have to see who steps up to fill those shoes and get the job done.  I'm happy we get to play on a bigger field.  We usually play better on larger fields.  I think it will be a battle.” … “Chico State is a difficult place to play.  I don't think I will have to say much to get our team motivated.  We were disappointed in the result last time (a Chico State 1-0 overtime win in Redwood Bowl).  We had the better run of play and felt that we should have at least gotten a tie if not a win.”

Lumberjack Notes
With a 4-6-2 record, HSU is in third place in the CCAA North.  After opening with a 7-3-0 record in its first 10 matches, the Jacks are winless in their last six matches (four losses and two ties)  … Junior striker Arielle Kern leads the squad in goals (7), points (16) and game winners (3). Junior Kim Carroll has tallied four goals and three assists.
