CHICO STATE DISTANCE CARNIVAL RESULTS (PDF)

CHICO, Calif. --
The Humboldt State track & field teams recorded top times and personal best performances in day one of a two-day event at Chico State Friday.

Matt Horsfall led the way for the Lumberjacks as he earned the top spot in the men's javelin (61.22m) and improved on his previous week's mark at the Stanford Invitational.

Horsfall wasn't the only athlete on the men's side to record a top-10 finish. Gustavo Plasencia ran a season-best 1:55.77 and placed fifth in the men's 800-meter dash, and Mario Castillo-Urbina followed with a ninth-place finish (1:58.40). Brent Ritschel also completed the men's 3000-meter steeplechase with a third-place result (10:12.08) and Dominique Pearson turned in an eighth-place finish in the men's high jump (1.80m), narrowly missing his own season-best performance by .04m.

On the women's side, Jessica Bath recorded a season-best finish in the women's 800 meters (2:19.58) as she shaved time off her previous best run of 2:20.06.

The Jacks continue their stay in Chico Saturday as they compete in the Twilight Invitational beginning with field events at 2 p.m. and races at 4 p.m.
