ARCATA, Calif. – Freshman pole vaulter Michael Payan has been selected to compete at the 2025 NCAA Division II National Championships, taking place May 22–24 at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl in Pueblo, Colorado.
Payan will compete in the pole vault finals at 10:05 a.m. PT (11:05 a.m. MT) on Thursday, May 22. He will be the first Humboldt Track & Field athlete since Ellie Earle-Rouse (2017, high jump, national runner-up, All-American) to pursue All-American honors as a freshman. To earn First Team All-American status, an athlete must finish in the top eight of their event; Second Team honors go to those placing ninth through twelfth. Payan is currently ranked seventh nationally heading into Nationals.
