TURLOCK, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt Men's Track & Field made its presence felt on Day Two of the 2025 CCAA Track & Field Championships, held Friday at Warrior Stadium, as the Jacks posted key scoring performances and multiple event finalists heading into the final day of action.
Leading the way in the field events, Joseph Gonzalez delivered a clutch throw of 16.18m in the men's shot put to secure fourth place, while Derek Ray also earned team points with a sixth-place finish and a mark of 15.55m. Their combined efforts added valuable points to Humboldt's team total in a deep throws competition.
On the track, Scott Caricato battled to an eighth-place finish in the 3000m steeplechase, crossing the line in 10:10.39 and adding another point to the team tally.
In preliminary action, three Lumberjacks locked in lanes for Saturday finals. Cristian Megas sprinted to a time of 21.73 seconds in the 200m dash, securing his spot in the final with a top-eight finish in a competitive field. In the 110m hurdles, both Isaak Kasso (15.16) and Walker Dorris (15.23) advanced to Saturday's final, giving Humboldt multiple scoring opportunities on championship Saturday.
The final day of the CCAA Championships begins Saturday late morning, where the Jacks look to close out the meet with strong finishes across the board.
