ARCATA, Calif. – The Humboldt State men's basketball team bolstered an already exceptional signing class with the addition of two more talented newcomers. Head Coach
Steve Kinder announced the signing of Jack Kaub (Garden Grove, Calif./Los Alamitos HS) and Chandler Dignam (Anaheim, Calif./Canyon HS) Thursday.
A Garden Grove, Calif., native, Kaub earned First Team All-Sunset League honors his senior season after averaging almost 14 points and nine rebounds per game. He also captured the MVP award at the Charlie Wilkins Tournament his last year at Los Alamitos High School. During his junior season, Kaub was selected to the All-Sunset League Second Team and was tabbed to the Cerritos/Gahr All-Tournament Team. The 6-8 forward helped his Eddie Courtemarche-led Los Alamitos squad to a 27-3 overall record and a 9-1 mark in Sunset League play last season. Kaub was coached by John Emaguna in AAU play. He is also a leader off the court and maintains a 3.6 GPA.
"Jack has great size and length," said Kinder. "He is a stretch four who can step out and score, but has the size and toughness to defend the post area. His business-like approach to the game and level-headed maturity will be a good fit for us at the post position next season. Both coaches, Eddie Courtemarche and John Emaguna, have mentored him well at the high school and AAU levels, and both programs are highly regarded in the west region."
Dignam, a Canyon High School product, was a four-year varsity contributor and helped his team to a 2014 CIF 2AA Championship under Head Coach Nate Harrison. He collected First Team and Second Team All-League honors in his junior and sophomore seasons, respectively. Dignam averaged 10.5 points, 1.1 assists and 5.3 rebounds his junior season. The 6-3 small forward was a member of the OC Pride AAU team led by Head Coach Mike Moore.
"Chandler is a tough kid who plays winning basketball," said Kinder. "His 3-point range, driving ability and aggressive defense are some of his many strengths. What makes him special is his hustle, knowledge of the game and willingness to be the best teammate possible. We are extremely excited to have him in our program, and he will continue our tradition of winning here at HSU. He comes from championship bloodlines as he played for both Nate Harrison and Mike Moore."
