ARCATA, Calif. – The Humboldt State volleyball team has logged some heavy miles before getting the opportunity to play a match in front of its home crowd. That seven-match road swing to start the year has come to a close and the Lumberjacks (3-4, 1-2) are back on campus Tuesday night at 5 p.m.
 
The Jacks will play their lone September home match on Tuesday against California Collegiate Athletic Association foe Cal State San Marcos, a team that HSU defeated less than a week ago. Humboldt State opened conference play at San Marcos last Wednesday and defeated the newest CCAA member in four sets.
 
HSU does not have the luxury of enjoying the Lumberjack Arena hospitality for too long, as another road trip immediately follows the match. The Jacks have back-to-back conference games on Friday and Saturday at Stanislaus State and Chico State, respectively. Last season, HSU went 2-0 against Stanislaus State and did not drop a set. HSU and Chico State split the season series, with each side winning 3-1 at home. Last week was the ever meeting between Cal State San Marcos and Humboldt State.
 
Entering this week, Humboldt State has played the fewest number of sets in the CCAA (29), but is fourth in kills per set (13.59). One reason for this is the play of senior Nicole Bewley. In three matches last week, Bewley hit .481, including .632 in the win at CSUSM. Bewley is now third in the conference with a .415 kill percentage on the year. Her 45 kills were the second most in the CCAA last week. In CCAA matches, HSU as a team leads the conference with 171 kills, 163 assists, and 213 digs.
