ARCATA, Calif. –
It's been 663 days since Humboldt State men's basketball has defeated arch-rival Chico State, but the high-scoring Lumberjacks look to end that streak Friday in Acker Gymnasium. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

"If our guys aren't fired up for the Chico State game, then they don't have a pulse," said Head Coach Steve Kinder. "This is going to be an environment that is emotionally exhausting. I need to keep our guys fresh, run them in and out, but we won't try to pace ourselves for the next game. We are going to go all-in Friday night."

Motivation won't be an issue for HSU following its loss to Cal State Los Angeles. The Golden Eagles proved to be too much for the Green and Gold as they erased an 18-point second half lead en route to an 85-82 result.

The Jacks lost both meetings with the Wildcats last season, and the North Coast team is 6-8 against its rival under Head Coach Steve Kinder. Chico State leads the all-time series, which began in 1933, 122-77.

Chico State boasts the California Collegiate Athletic Association's toughest defense, and the Wildcats lead the nation allowing just 58.3 points per game. Saturday's 80-68 win over Cal State San Marcos improved Chico State's record to 7-2 overall. The Wildcats are receiving votes in the National Association of Basketball Coaches Top 25 poll.
