SAN MARCOS, Calif--- With their 2-1 road win this afternoon over Cal State San Marcos, the Humboldt State Lumberjacks picked up their first California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) win of the 2019 season.
Lindsay Stoner scored her team leading fourth goal of the season on a penalty kick for HSU's first goal. With 18 minutes left in regulation,
Erin Siegel connected on her second goal of the season off a ball from
Sabine Postma in what proved to be the game-winner.

FIRST HALF: Cal State San Marcos (4-5-2, 3-3-0 CCAA) had the first chance of the match to take the 1-0 lead in the tenth minute, but
Katelin Talbert stopped Alyssa Pigoni's shot on goal attempt. In the 20
th minute, it looked like the Lumberjacks were going to take the lead but
Sabine Postma's shot went left of the net. Talbert made another save in the 22
nd minute, this time off the foot of Hannah Arcala. Postma had another chance to give HSU the 1-0 lead, but Yesenia Betancourt made a key save in the 28
th minute. The match remained scoreless until the 44:11 mark of the half when the Cougars' were called for a foul in the penalty box.

SECOND HALF: Early in the second half,
Mary Swisher had a chance to double the Lumberjacks' lead but her shot attempt went right of the net. Stoner had another chance to double the 'Jacks lead but her shot attempt went over the net in the 59
th minute. The Cougars had two chances to tie the match in the 62
nd minute, but Talbert made two more saves. HSU had another chance to double its lead, but
Valerie Perez's shot attempt went right of the net in the 67
th minute. The visitors doubled their lead on a goal by
Erin Siegel in the 73
rd minute off a ball from Postma for her second goal of the season. Cal State San Marcos cut its deficit in half in the 75
th minute on a goal by Katie Connor off a ball from Briana Dauost. Not even three minutes later, Talbert stopped Arcala's shot on goal attempt to tie the match at 2-2. CSUSM had one more chance to tie the match with three minutes left in regulation but Kamalie Alului shot sailed wide of the net as HSU took the 2-1 victory.
GOALIES: Katelin Talbert had seven saves in goal for the Lumberjacks (2-6-2, 1-3-0 CCAA). Yesenia Betancourt had one save in goal for Cal State San Marcos.
UP NEXT: Humboldt State will return home to College Creek Field for two CCAA matches on October 18 and 20. The Lumberjacks will host Cal State East Bay on October 18 at 12:30pm and Cal State Monterey Bay on October 20 at 11:30am.
