John Reitenbach

Throughout the next couple of weeks, we will be spotlighting our new Humboldt State Lumberjacks of all 11 of our intercollegiate athletic teams.  This is a chance for the Humboldt State University Lumberjack community to get to know our newest Lumberjacks.

What is your major?

Computer Science

Why did you choose to become a Lumberjack?

I received a scholarship and the area is nice.

What is your favorite book that you have read?   

The BFG

What is your favorite TV Show?      

Stranger Things

What is your favorite movie?

Maze Runner
The Maze Runner

Who do you look up to?

My high school assistant coaches, Coach Clarence and Coach Sante; both wealthy people who played basketball and are receiving income from entrepreneurship and real estate

Where do you want to be in ten years?

A wealthy real estate investor/computer scientist, living in a nice home in California while taking care of my family.

What is your favorite athletic memory?

Senior night, we celebrated winning the league championship at the same time.  Plus the game was sold out.  Celebrating and having the crowd there spontaneously is what made the game memorable.

What do you most like about Humboldt State and the community?

The people are extremely nice.

What is your favorite color?

WHITE

If you had a chance to meet one person, who would that person be?

Bill Gates
A young Bill Gates, he is one of the most successful and intelligent people ever. I would take the chance to absorb his wisdom.

If you got to pick one place to go on vacation, where would that be?

Thailand
THAILAND

If you had a million dollars, what would be the first things you would do with it?

Invest and secure a retirement plan.

What is your favorite childhood memory?

Video Games
Playing video games.

What is your favorite food to eat?

Mexican Food
Good Mexican food.

Who is your favorite teacher and why?

My eighth grade teacher, Mr. Rodriguez. He has been a good mentor/father figure for me.

What is your favorite thing about being on an athletic team?

You learn and receive opportunities from all the people you meet.

When you have to stay inside and work out, what do you do?

Jump squats, jump lunges, push-ups, crunches, leg lifts, planks and burpees.

Have you learned any new skills or hobbies during Covid?

Boat
Got a pallet jack license, security guard license, drove a boat, learned to fish, learned to kneeboard, learned how to flip and studied the keys to real estate and entrepreneurship.
