Humboldt State To Begin Three-Game Road Trip in Bay Area

ARCATA, Calif..---   Humboldt State's men's basketball team will begin its three-game road trip this weekend with a pair of conference games in the Bay Area.  The Lumberjacks will be in San Francisco this Thursday, February 13 for a 7:30pm tip-off with San Francisco State. They will travel to Rohnert Park for a 7:30pm scheduled conference game with Sonoma State on Saturday, February 15. 
 
RECAP OF HSU'S LAST GAMES:  The Lumberjacks went 0-2 this past weekend in their two-game home stand.  They started with an 81-67 loss to Cal Poly Pomona on Thursday evening despite Jackson Strong's game high 31 points.  Strong tied the school record for treys in a game with 10.  Rob Lewis chipped in 10 points for the visitors.  On Saturday, HSU lost 94-72 to Cal State San Bernardino despite four players scoring in double digits with Zachariah Christian's 18 points leading the way.  Isaiah Pope chipped in 16 points while Amari Green added 12 points and Rob Lewis scored 10 points. 
 
UPDATE ON THE LUMBERJACKS:  Humboldt State is 8-15 overall and 4-14 in the CCAA, which places them in 12th place.  The 'Jacks are just 2.5 games out of the eighth and final spot for the CCAA Basketball Championships.  They are averaging 78.8 points per game while giving up 83.9 points per game.  HSU is being out-rebounded 34.9 to 33.5. 
 
Four players are averaging double digits in Jackson Strong (13.6 ppg), Rob Lewis (13.4 ppg), Leland Green (13.0 ppg) and Zachariah Christian (10.6 ppg).  Strong leads HSU with his 77 treys and 42.3% shooting from beyond the arc.  Isaiah Pope leads the 'Jacks with his 85.7% shooting from the line while Leland Green has a team leading 61 assists.  Pope leads the team with his 23 steals.  Christian is aveaging a team leading 5.6 rebounds per game and 57% shooting from the field.
 
BALANCED SCORING ATTACK:  In all but three of the Lumberjacks' first 23 games, Humboldt State has had at least three players score in double digits.  The only two games were December 5 at Cal Poly Pomona, January 11 versus No. 6 UC San Diego and February 6 vs. Cal Poly Pomona.  Heading into this weekend, four players are averaging double digits in scoring paced by Jackson Strong's 13.6 ppg average followed by Rob Lewis' 13.4 ppg, Leland Green's 13.0 ppg and Zachariah Christian's 10.6 ppg.  Isaiah Pope is next at 9.4 points per game. 
 
MOVIN' ON UP:  n the latest NCAA Division II men's basketball statistical report, Humboldt State's Jackson Strong is 18th in the nation with his 77 three-point field goals made this season.  Strong is also 22nd in the nation with his 3.35 three-point field goals made per game.  In HSU's game this past Thursday, Strong tied Isaac Gildea's school record with his 10 three-point field goals made in a game.
 
Strong, who has started in all 23 games this season, is shooting 43.2% from the field and 42.3% from three-point range.  He is averaging 13.6 points and 2.8 rebounds per game while shooting 82.9% from the line.  The senior shooting guard has dished out 47 assists with 25 turnovers while recording 21 steals. In the recent California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) statistical categories, Strong is second in three's made per game, fifth in free throw percentage and sixth in three-point field goal percentage. 
 
Strong has made 166 three's in his career which places him seventh on the HSU all-time career list.  He is just two from moving into sixth place, four from fifth place and seven from fourth place.  His 77 treys made this season is fifth on the single season list at HSU.  He is just three from fourth and seven from third. 
 
ASSIST/TURNOVER RATIO: As a team, Humboldt State has a +1.1 assist to turnover ratio heading into this week.  The Lumberjacks have seven players that have dished out more assists than turning the ball over.  The six 'Jacks are Leland Green (61 assists, 45 turnovers), Jackson Strong (47 assists, 25 turnovers), Amari Green (42 assists, 28 turnovers), Isaiah Pope (40 assists, 34 turnovers), Gabrys Sadaunykas (16 assists, 14 turnovers), Deion Alston (eighth assists, seven turnovers) and Bryce Jackson (four assists, one turnover).
 
UPDATE ON THE GATORS:  San Francisco State is 8-15 overall and 5-12 in the CCAA, which places them in 11th place.  The Gators are averaging 70.3 points per game while giving up 73.7 points per game. They are out-rebounding their opponents 35.9 to 34.6. 
 
Linton Acliese leads the way with his 16.9 scoring and 7.7 rebounding average.  He also leads the team with his 11 blocked shots and 26 steals.  Zane Paddon is shooting a team leading 48% and 43% from three-point land while making a team high 43 treys.  Michael Diaz has a team high 43 assists.
 
Since 2007, Humboldt State leads the all-time series 14-11 including winning the first meeting this season in December in Arcata 80-74.  Rob Lewis had 26 points to lead HSU while Jackson Strong chipped in 22 points and Leland Green added 18.
 
UPDATE ON THE SEAWOLVES:  Sonoma State is 4-18 overall and 3-14 in the CCAA, which places them in 13th place.  The Seawolves are averaging 63.1 points per game while giving up 75.8 points per game.  They are being out-rebounded by their opponents 34.8 to 29.6. 
 
Isaac Davison leads the way with his 16.0 scoring average, 40% shooting from three's and 45 assists.  Nick Klarman is averaging 11.0 points per game and a team high 5.6 rebounding average to go with his 27 steals.  Wesley Gilbert is shooting a team high 57% from the field.
 
HSU leads the all-time series with Sonoma State since 2006 16-11, but the Seawolves won 86-73 earlier this season in Arcata.  Rob Lewis paced HSU with 23 points while Isaiah Pope chipped in 17 points.
