ARCATA, Calif--- Humboldt State women's soccer team played to a scoreless tie with the visiting Cal State San Marcos Cougars (4-0-1, 0-0-1 CCAA) this afternoon in both team's CCAA opener at College Creek Field. The Lumberjacks out-shot the Cougars while
Alexis Aguilar had five saves in goal for the 'Jacks.

Grant Landy. "We had some really good moments today on the ball and our defense did excellent dealing with San Marcos' pressure. We will turn attention now to Sunday and a good San Bernardino team."
FIRST HALF: Humboldt State had a chance for early lead in the 16
th minute, but
Baylee Groom's shot went wide left. Groom had another chance to give the 'Jacks the lead, but Allison Marcure recorded the first of her four saves on the day. With four minutes left in the half,
Niki Clark had a chance for the Lumberjacks' sail wide left as the match went scoreless into the half.
SECOND HALF: Cal State San Marcos came out in the second half and recorded the first shot of the new half as Claire Hernandez's shot sailed wide left in the 47
th minute. They had two more chances in the next three minutes but
Alexis Aguilar recorded back to back saves of Megan Tomesetti and Grace Marks' shot on goal attempts. Humboldt State (3-2-3, 0-0-1 CCAA) had a chance for the 1-0 lead, but
Clara Lenihan's shot sailed wide right of the net. The 'Jacks had another chance stopped by Marcure this time off the foot of
Emma McChristie in the 66
th minute. With twenty minutes left in regulation, it looked like HSU had the 1-0 lead but Marcue stopped
Josie Wolitzky's shot on goal attempt. Marcure made another stop in the 71
st minute, this time of
Erin Mohr's shot attempt. It looked like HSU was going to take the lead but in the 84
th minute, the 'Jacks were called offsides as the match went into overtime.
OVERTIME: In the first ten-minute overtime period, HSU had all three shot attempts. The first one in the 92
nd minute off the foot of
Kendal Spencer. The second in the 94
th minute off the foot of
Kelsey Bess and the final seconds of the first overtime period off the foot of
Baylee Groom. Hsu had three chances for the golden goal in the first six minutes of the second overtime period, but
Clara Lenihan's two shot attempts and Groom's attempt went wide of the goal. The Cougars had a chance for the golden goal but Grace Marks' shot on goal attempt was stopped by Aguilar as the match ended in a scoreless tie.
THREE'S HAVE IT: This was the Lumberjacks' third shutout of the season with
Alexis Aguilar in goal. This was also their third tie of the season and second in a row as they tied Chico State 1-1 last week. Late in the first half, they were trailing Cal State San Bernardino 2-0 in Chico.
13 SHOT ATTEMPTS: Humboldt State had 13 shot attempts including four by
Baylee Groom and three by
Clara Lenihan this afternoon. The Lumberjacks' four shot on goals came from

UP NEXT: Humboldt State will host Cal State San Bernardino on Sunday at 2pm. The Coyotes lost 2-1 at No. 25 Chico State this evening.
