Despite Out-shooting Stanislaus State, Lumberjacks Fall 2-0 in Turlock

TURLOCK, Calif---  The visiting Humboldt State Lumberjacks outshot their hosts 22-11 including 9-4 in shot on goal attempts, but still came up on the wrong of the scoreboard losing 2-0 to the Stanislaus State Warriors (5-4-2, 3-1-2 CCAA).  The Warriors scored in the 15th on goal by Rayana Plancarte and in the 21st minute on an own goal. Of the HSU's season high 22, nine of them came from the trio of Emilie Wallin, Baylee Groom and Emma McChristie. Those three each had two shot on goal attempts to go with their three shot attempts on the afternoon.

QUOTES FROM THE COACH: "We aren't getting the result right now sot that's frustrating but this was one of our better games of the season," said head coach Grant Landy. "Tactically we were very good, the team bought into the game plan and made some adjustments as the game progresses. Twenty-two shots were a season high for us so we are starting to create more chances. We gave up two soft goals unfortunately and that was the difference in the game."

FIRST HALF: Humboldt State (3-5-4, 0-3-2 CCAA) had a chance for the 1-0 lead, when Josie Wolitzky's shot was stopped by the Warriors' Amanda Leal in the tenth minute. Five minutes later, the hosts took the 1-0 lead on a goal by Rayana Plancarte off a ball from Ilena Rivera and Daisy Martinez. The Warriors doubled their lead on an own goal in the 21st minute.  HSU had a chance to cut into the lead, but Tana Eri's shot on goal attempt was stopped by the Warrior goalkeeper in the 33rd minute.  They had another chance late in the half, but Emilie Wallin's shot on goal was stopped in the 43rd minute as the hosts took the 2-0 lead into the half.

SECOND HALF:  HSU had a chance once again to cut the lead in half, but Wallin's shot was stopped in the 71st minute as was Emma McChristie's shot on goal attempt in the 72nd minute.  McChristie had another chance for the 'Jack goal with eight minutes left but Leal made another save for the Warriors as the hosts took the 2-0 victory.

UP NEXT: Humboldt State will return home to College Creek Field this Sunday, October 17 at 11:30am, when the 'Jacks host Cal State East Bay.  The Pioneers lost 1-0 to Chico State this evening in Hayward.
