ARCATA, Calif--- For the second straight match, the Humboldt State Lumberjacks out-shot their opponents, but came out on the wrong end of the scoreboard. This afternoon, the 'Jacks lost 1-0 to the Cal State East Bay Pioneers (7-3-2, 4-2-1 CCAA) in a CCAA match-up at College Creek Field. HSU out-shot the Pioneers 11-8 including 4-3 in shot on goal attempts.

Grant Landy. "We will continue to plug ahead and hope something breaks our way. That's all we can do."
FIRST HALF: The Lumberjacks (3-6-4, 0-4-2 CCAA) had two chances early in the match to take the lead but the Pioneer defense blocked both of their attempts. The first was off the foot of
Erin Mohr in the tenth minute and the second in the 11
th minute off the foot of
Emma McChristie. The Pioneers had a chance for the 1-0 lead, but Tami Kwong's shot was stopped by the Lumberjacks'
Alexis Aguilar in the 16
th minute. It looked like the 'Jacks were going to take the lead, but
Sarah Paquette's shot was stopped the Pioneers' Jordan Smith as the match went into the half scoreless.
SECOND HALF: Cal State East Bay took the 1-0 lead on a goal by Tami Kwong in the 47
th minute off a ball from Jenna Villaneuva. HSU had two chances to tie the match, but
Clara Lenihan's and
Emilie Wallin's shot sailed wide of the goal. The 'Jacks kept pressing but their shots just didn't go into the back of the including the last chance in the 85
th minute when
Erin Mohr's shot on goal attempt was stopped by Smith as the Pioneers took the 1-0 victory.
UP NEXT: Humboldt State will continue its three-match homestand with a pair of CCAA matches at the end of the week. The 'Jacks will host Sonoma State this Thursday, October 22 at 12:30pm with that being their Dam Worth It Match in support of Mental Awareness. Then on Sunday, October 24, HSU will host San Francisco State at 11;30am. Prior to the match, HSU will recognize its seniors.
