ARCATA, Calif--  Eighty-nine of Humboldt State Lumberjacks' Student-Athletes earned a 3.50 or higher term grade point average (GPA) during the Fall 2021 semester.  Of those, 81 earned academic honors, with 39 Lumberjacks being Named Presidential scholars and 42 being named to the Dean's list.  In order to be considered for Academic Honors, a student must pass 12 graded units(A-F) and have earned a 3.85 GPA  or higher to be a Presidential Scholar or a 3.50-3.85 GPA to be included on the Dean's List.

"Everyone associated with Lumberjacks Athletics is incredibly proud of the success our student-athletes enjoyed in the classroom this Fall", said Cooper Jones, Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Campus Recreation.  "These successes continue to build upon the core values of 'Lumberjacks Graduate, Lumberjacks Serve, Lumberjacks Win' that we have established as our new standard of success at HSU."

21 Student-Athletes went above and beyond, by achieving a 4.0 GPA and 63% of the 227 Lumberjack student-athletes posted above a 3.00 GPA during the fall semester.

"The academic success of so many of our student-athletes is amazing to observe, and speaks highly of the type of young person our coaches attract to HSU," stated Jones.  "We stand in awe of these outstanding accomplishments.  In addition, many staff and faculty members at HSU play an important part in these successes and we appreciate their role in our academic achievements."

"A special thank you to Amanda Nelson, our Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance and Student-Athlete Services.  Her dedication and commitment to our student-athletes, and to HSU, is another reason for our academic success."

"Few realize how challenging it is to both be a student-athlete and a successful student," said Amanda Nelson.  "The credit goes to these outstanding young people for putting in the hard work and getting it done."
