Humboldt Softball Recognizes Former Lumberjack All-American and National Champion Lizzy Prescott On Her Induction into the CCAA Hall of Fame

ARCATA, Calif--- The Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjacks recognized former All-American and National Champion Lizzy Prescott with her induction in the CCAA Hall of Fame prior to this afternoon's conference doubleheader with No. 16 Chico State. 
 
GAME ONE:  The 16th ranked Wildcats took a 3-0 lead in the opener of today's doubleheader with a three-run first inning.  The Wildcat first was capped by a run scoring double by Brooke Larsen.  Chico State (18-4, 10-2 CCAA) added another run in the second to increase their lead to 4-0. 
 
The guests took a 7-0 lead after a three-run fourth.  Alani Nguyen had a two-run home run after Grace Stover led off the inning with a double.  The Wildcats scored their seventh run of the game on a solo home run by Nina Revoir. 
 
Cal Poly Humboldt cut the deficit to 7-5 with a five-run fifth.  Micaela Harris reached on a fielding error to begin the inning for the Jacks. She stole second and scored on a bunt single by JoAna Mullins.  With one out, Alyssa Ramirez singled Mullins to second.  Humboldt made it 7-4 Wildcats on a three-run home run by Izzy StarrKatelyn Dendas followed Starr's home run with a solo shot to cut the Wildcat lead to 7-5. 
 
Chico State came right back with a two-run sixth to increase its lead to 9-5 on a two-run home run by Revoir. 
 
The Jacks came right back with a two-run sixth.  Harris had a one-out single and stole her third base of the game.  Megan Escobar walked and Mullins triple scored both Harris and Escobar to cut the deficit to 9-7.
 
Humboldt (7-13, 3-9 CCAA) had a chance to tie the game in its last at-bat.  Dendas reached on a fielding error to lead off the seventh and was pinch ran for by Anna Brondos.  Wildcat starter Brooke Larsen (11-1) retired the next three Jack batters to preserve the 9-7 Chico victory. 
 
JACK STARS: Izzy Starr went three-for-four with a run scored and a three-run home run.  JoAna Mullins drove in three runs, scored a run and had two hits including a triple.  Katelyn Dendas had a solo home run while Micaela Harris scored twice and had three stolen bases. 
 
GAME TWO:  Once again Chico State took a 3-0 lead with a three-run first capped by a run scoring single by Amanda Metzger. The Wildcats added a run on a Blaire Willson run scoring double to bring in Grace Stover. 
 
The Jacks cut the Wildcat lead in half on a two-run home run by Vanessa Saltos in the bottom of the second which scored Katleyn Dendas who reached on a two-out single. Metzger's two-out solo home run in the third increased the visitors' lead to 5-2. 
 
Chico State took a 9-2 lead with a four-run fourth inning keyed by a two-run single by Nina Revoir.  Humboldt made it 9-3 Wildcats with a run in the fifth.  The Wildcats broke the game open with an eight-run sixth inning to take a 17-3 lead. 
 
The Jacks didn't go away though as they scored two runs in the sixth on a two-run home run by Saltos, but it was too late as the Wildcats took the night cap 17-5 in six innings.
 
JACK STARS: Vanessa Saltos went two-for-four with two two-run home runs for Humboldt in the night cap.  Katelyn Dendas went two-for-three with two runs scored both times on a home run by Saltos. 
 
UP NEXT:  Cal Poly Humboldt will be back on the road this weekend, March 11-13.  The Jacks will be in Turlock, Calif., for a four-game series with Stanislaus State.  The series will begin with a 1pm starting doubleheader on Friday, March 11.  The weekend series will conclude with a 11am starting doubleheader on Saturday, March 12.  They will continue their six-game road trip with a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday, March 13 with a 1pm starting doubleheader in Brisbane, Calif., at Mission Blue Field against Academy of Art.
