SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.--- Cal Poly Humboldt's men's and women's track teams recorded another great day this afternoon at the Mike Fanelli Classic.
Carson Smith led the way for the Jacks with `his 42
nd place time of 14:45.82 in the men's 5000-meter run.
Emily Bath placed the Humboldt women with her 54
th place time of 4:49.53.
"This was another very good day for the Jacks," said assistant coach
Jamey Harris. "We've got some really nice momentum going following
Rosa Granados' performance on Thursday. Her performance was definitely a highlight and
Carson Smith today in the 5K is our best in ten years. They're trusting the process and working consistently and it is working."
Besides Smith's 42
nd place performance, Sebastian Vassiet-Fauvel finished in 75
th place with his 15:07.35. Over in the women's 5000,
Sophie Smith finished in 90
th place with her 19:34.13.
Leading the way for Humboldt in the 1500 men's race was
Aris Valerio with a 35
th place time of 4:02.86. Also finishing in the top 50 were Dominican Raffetto (47
th, 4:02.91),
Julian Jensen (52
nd, 4:04.47) and
Charles Becker-Ellison (54
th, 4:04.93).
Besides Bath's 54
th place,
Kayla Penny finished in 64
th place (5:05.25),
Melissa Pinter (69
th, 5:08.03) and
Serena Smith (86
th, 5:21.65).
The Jacks will conclude their weekend competing in the final day of the Mike Fanelli Classic on Saturday, April 2.
