TURLOCK Calif.--- The Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjacks lost 9-5 to Hawai'i Hilo and 9-3 to Azusa Pacific in the second day of the 19
th Annual Tournament of Champions (TOC) this afternoon in Turlock. The Jacks will wrap up their play in the TOC tomorrow morning at 9am against No. 1 Concordia.
HAWAI'I HILO 9, CAL POLY HUMBOLDT 5: The Jacks took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning against Hawai'i Hilo.
JoAna Mullins and
Izzy Starr had back-to-back one-out singles. With two outs, Mullins scored on a two-out single by
Katelyn Dendas.
The Vulcans (14-15) took a 3-1 lead on a three-run home run by Brandee Chinen in the top of the third. They took a 4-1 lead with a run in the top of the fourth inning.
Humboldt cut the deficit to 4-3 with a two-run fourth.
Katelyn Dendas and
Alyssa Ramirez had led off the inning with back-to-back singles. Kristen Ingram walked to load the bases.
Anna Brondos drove in both Dendas and Ramirez with a two-run single.
Hawai'i Hilo took a 9-3 lead with a five-run fifth inning. The score remained 9-3 Vulcans until the Jacks' last at bat.
Micaela Harris had a one-out single and stole second. She scored on double by Mullins and then Mullins scored on a double by
Izzy Starr. The Vulcans induced the final two outs on a ground outs as they took the 9-5 victory.

Izzy Starr each had two hits while
Anna Brondos drove in two runs. Mullins scored twice for the Jacks.
Kelsey Burr pitched a scoreless sixth inning for Humboldt while striking out two.
AZUSA PACIFIC 9, CAL POLY HUMBOLDT 3: Azusa Pacific (28-13) took a 3-0 lead with a three-run first inning. The Jacks cut the deficit to 3-2 in the top of the second inning.
Alyssa Ramirez had a lead-off walk and went to second on a single by
Megan Escobar.
Anna Brondos walked to load the bases with one out.
Micaela Harris drove in
Ciera Pyle and Escobar with a one-out two-run single to left field.
The Cougars took a 4-2 lead on a two-out single by Aly Montesino in the bottom of the second inning. They increased their lead to 6-2 on a two-run single by Julia Olivares in the bottom of the third inning. Azusa Pacific added three more insurance runs in the fourth to take a 9-2 lead.
Cal Poly Humboldt (12-26) cut the Cougar lead to 9-3 in the top of the fifth inning.
Micaela Harris had a lead-off single, stole second and third and scored on an errant throw.
The Jacks had a chance to cut more into the deficit in their last at bat.

Izzy Starr had back-to-back one-out singles, but the Cougars stranded them there as they took the 9-5 victory.

Megan Escobar pitched 2.1 scoreless innings of relief, giving up one hit and striking out one and walking one.
