Cal Poly Humboldt Men’s Basketball Signs Junior College Transfer Mack Tarver Jr. to National Letter of Intent

Mack Tarver, Jr. is the MBB Recent Signee for the 2021-22 Season
ARCATA, Calif.--- Cal Poly Humboldt head men's basketball coach Tae Norwood has announced the signing of the Mack Tarver Jr.  to a National Letter of Intent.  Tarver joins Shemar O'Roy-Ford, Joshua Berenbaum, Malek Davis and Rylan O'Brien as the newest additions to the 2022-23 Lumberjacks. 
 
"We are excited to have Mack join our family here at Cal Poly Humboldt," said Norwood.  "He will provide added depth and experience to the back court. He plays with great effort and intelligence."
 
Tarver Jr. comes to Humboldt from West Hills Community College where he averaged 21.1 points, 3.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game this past season.  The Salt Lake City, Utah, native shot 50% from the field including 45% from three-point land in 24 games.  The First Team All-Conference selection finished fourth in scoring in the conference.  Tarver Jr. shot 75% from the charity stripe and connected on 90 of his attempts from beyond the arc.
 
"Mack has a knack for scoring the basketball efficiently," added Norwood.  "He shot over 50 percent from the field and 45 percent from the 3pt arc with 90 made shots this past season. His toughness, shooting touch, and skill set make him a versatile option in our up-tempo style of play."
 
Prior to West Hills, Tarver Jr. was a member of the Southwestern Oregon Community College men's basketball team for his freshman season.  During that season, Tarver Jr. averaged 19.2 points, 2.1 assists and 1.8 rebounds per game.  He earned First Team All-Conference honors and was named to the First Team All-Freshman.  Tarver Jr. shot 48.9% from the field, 40.6% from three's and 90.1% from the charity stripe while connecting on 73 of his attempts from three-point land.
