ARCATA, Calif.--- Cal Poly Humboldt assistant women's soccer coach
Taylor McMillin has been named the head coach of the College of the Redwoods women's soccer team . The Corsairs are affiliated with the California Community College Athletic Association and a member of the Golden Valley Conference.
"I am extremely excited for this opportunity to be the head coach of the Women's Soccer Program at College of the Redwoods," said McMillin. "The decision to leave Cal Poly Humboldt was bittersweet but I knew it was an important step in my professional career. I have learned a lot over the last four years as the assistant women's soccer coach and truly appreciate the support I have received from
Grant Landy (Cal Poly Humboldt Women's Soccer Head Coach). I look forward to building the relationship between College of the Redwoods soccer and Cal Poly Humboldt Soccer and creating a pathway for the student-athletes who want to compete at a higher level. I want to thank the Cal Poly Humboldt coaching staff, administration and athletes. I will always cherish my time as a Lumberjack and I look forward to watching you compete this Fall, Go Jacks!"
McMillin was on the Cal Poly Humboldt Women's Soccer coaching staff for four seasons. She assisted in coaching CCAA Championship Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete
Sabine Postma in 2020 while Postma and
Tana Eri were each named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.
"We are sad to see Taylor go, but this is a great opportunity for her, " Landy said. "Taylor has been such an important part of the soccer program here both as a player and coach. I am excited to work with her to continue to develop and promote soccer in Humboldt County. We wish her all the best and will be here to support her in every way we can."
Prior to being on the coaching staff, McMillin was a member of the Lumberjacks' women's soccer program in 2014 and 2017. In her first season as a Lumberjack, she led the team with six goals and was named the team's Most Valuable Player.
Prior to being a 'Jack, she was an Eagle and played at Mendocino Junior College where she stands third in games played (42), while second in points (78), games started (41), assists (22), and third in shots on goal (133) in the program's career history record book.
McMillin graduated from Mendocino Junior College in 2014 with an AA degree in Kinesiology. McMillin graduated from Cal Poly Humboldt in the Fall of 2018 with a Bachelors in Kinesiology. In January 2021, she graduated from Concordia University Irvine with a Masters in Coaching and Athletic Administration.
