SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- A Cal Poly Humboldt comeback fell just short in the final seconds on Saturday afternoon at San Francisco State as the Gators held on for a 60-57 victory over the Lumberjacks.
Ramiah Adedigba recorded two season-highs and his first double-double of the season after tallying 19 points and 11 rebounds.
Rob Diaz III led all scorers with 20 points and has posted two consecutive 20+ point performances.
Humboldt jumped out an early 4-0 lead after layups from
Ramiah Adedigba and
Pejan Slater got the Jacks going. The Gators responded with an 11-1 run and took an 11-5 lead over Humboldt. Extending their lead to 12 points, SFSU looked to be in control for the remainder of the first half. An Adedigba three-pointer with 1:28 left in the first half cut the deficit to eight points. The Jacks found themselves down 11 points at the half, 32-21.
San Francisco's Jonah Roth converted a layup at the 17:09 mark that gave the Gators a 14-point lead, their largest of the game. The Lumberjacks wouldn't go away easily, as they grabbed the momentum and went on a 14-4 run that was capped off by a
Rob Diaz III three-pointer. With 10 minutes to go in the second half,
Cam Timmons converted a layup and made it a one possession game, 41-43. A comeback led by Adedigba and Diaz kept the Jacks close for the remainder of the game. With one minute remaining, back-to-back layups from
Sage Wayans and
Cam Timmons gave the Jacks their first lead since the start of the game, 57-55. A quick 5-0 run by the Gators put SFSU up 60-57 with 10 seconds left. The Jacks had an opportunity to tie in the final seconds, but a well defended shot from
Brandon Bento-Jackson rattled in and out, resulting in a 60-57 victory for San Francisco State.

- Humboldt shot 35.6% from the field and 26.3% from three-point range, while SFSU shot a consistent 41.8% from the field and 25.0% from three-point range
- The Jacks improved to 40.63% shooting in the second half after shooting 29.63% in the first half
- Humboldt out-rebounded San Francisco State 44-31
- The Gators had more points off turnovers (14-5) and bench points (23-7), but the Jacks had more second chance points (17-7)
- The Humboldt defense allowed 60 points against SFSU, the lowest total of points score by an opposing team this season

After six straight games on the road, Humboldt will return home to Lumberjack Arena next week to play a pair of CCAA games against Cal State Monterey Bay (3-4, 5-7 CCAA) on Thursday evening and Stanislaus State (4-9, 1-6 CCAA) on Saturday evening. Both games with have a 7:30 PM tip-off.
