TURLOCK, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt (5-6-1, 2-3-0 CCAA) was unable to find the back of the net in a 3-0 road loss to Stanislaus State (5-5-2, 2-3-0 CCAA) on Thursday night at Warrior Stadium. Despite a competitive first half, the Jacks conceded three second-half goals to the Warriors.
After a scoreless first half, Stanislaus State broke the deadlock in the 58th minute when Shauna Johnston netted her second goal of the season, assisted by Sabrina Cabrera. The Warriors extended their lead nine minutes later, with Cabrera setting up Aliah Avila for her fourth goal of the year at the 66:17 mark. Cabrera completed her stellar night by scoring a goal of her own in the 77th minute, assisted by Makeila Yancey.
Humboldt's offense managed six shots, four of which were on target, but couldn't capitalize on their opportunities. Stanislaus State goalkeeper made four saves to maintain a clean sheet. Humboldt's defense faced constant pressure, with goalkeeper managing six saves off the Warriors' 16 shots.
The match saw a combined 16 fouls, with Humboldt committing six and Stanislaus ten. Both teams were aggressive in their pursuit of possession, leading to a hard-fought battle in midfield.
Cal Poly Humboldt will look to bounce back on the road this weekend as they face off against another CCAA opponent in Chico State on Sunday at home.
