CLERMONT, Fla. – The Cal Poly Humboldt triathlon team made significant strides at the 2024 Triathlon National Championships in Florida, finishing fifth out of twelve Division II teams—a major improvement from last year's tenth-place finish. Leading the charge was
Natalie Mitchell, who earned First Team All-American honors with a stellar fourth-place finish among Division II competitors.
Averill Payne also delivered a strong performance, securing an Honorable Mention All-American distinction with her 20th-place finish.
Mitchell completed the course in 1:02:36, just 1:52 behind the Division II champion, Carla Larrabeiti of Wingate University, showcasing her prowess across the swim, bike, and run segments. Mitchell's swim time of 10:11 and bike time of 30:18 positioned her well to compete with the nation's best in her category. Payne clocked in at 1:06:18, with notable consistency across each leg of the course, contributing to Humboldt's impressive team result.
