Humboldt Clutches Win at Stanislaus Behind Two Career-High Performances

TURLOCK, Calif. -- Cal Poly Humboldt men's basketball traveled to Turlock for a CCAA matchup on Thursday evening in Fitzpatrick Arena against Stanislaus State. Despite only having six players available for the contest, the Lumberjacks clutched-up down the stretch behind Ramiah Adedigba's 26 points and Sage Wayans' 19-point, 10-rebound double-double to defeat Stan State 72-65 on the road. Both Adedigba (26) and Wayans (19) reached new career-highs in a Humboldt uniform after their standout performances on Thursday.

Humboldt jumped out to a commanding 8-0 lead early on that forced Stan State to use a timeout just over three minutes into the game. Coming out of the timeout, the Warriors offense exploded and went on an 18-3 run and grabbed a 18-11 lead over the 'Jacks at the halfway point of the first period. The cold spell continued for the Humboldt and Stan State extended their lead to double digits, going up 26-15 with six minutes until the break. In the final three minutes, the Lumberjacks chipped away and went on a 10-4 run to make it one possession game at the half, trailing Stan State 35-32.

A 7-2 run from Humboldt to open the second half put them ahead 39-37 at the 17:35 mark and the 'Jacks never looked back. A three-pointer at the 11:05 mark from Ramiah Adedigba gave Humboldt an 11-point lead, their largest of the game. Stan State responded with a 9-0 run to cut the Lumberjack lead to just two points, 60-58, with six minutes left to play. A breakthrough moment for the shorthanded Humboldt team on Thursday saw the 'Jacks maintain and extend their lead in the final four minutes of play, as that has been a challenge for the young North Coast squad this season. Although the Warriors made it interesting after cutting their deficit to just three points with 20 seconds to go, Kareem Clark shut the door with four straight free-throws to defeat Stan State 72-65 on the road and earn the season split.
