Cal Poly Humboldt Signs Division I Transfer Kyle Frelow

ARCATA, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt head men's basketball coach Chris Tifft announced on Tuesday the signing of Kyle Frelow.

"We are fortunate to add someone of Kyle's ability and experience to our roster," stated Tifft. "Kyle will make an immediate impact on our program by providing athleticism, maturity, physicality, and versatility. His experience with the Big West Conference will be extremely valuable as we continue to put our program in a position to take yet another step forward."

The forward from Los Angeles joins the Lumberjacks as a transfer from Division I Cal State Northridge (CSUN). The experienced veteran appeared in 19 games for the Matadors this past season and shot 80 percent in Big West Conference games. He was a key contributor in helping CSUN reach their highest win total since the 2007-08 season.

Before heading to CSUN, Frelow played two seasons at The University of Texas at Tyler (UT Tyler) where he appeared in 50 games and started 23 of them. Over two seasons at UT Tyler he shot 57.4 percent from the field, averaged 3.8 points per game, and averaged 4.3 rebounds per game.

Over his high school career at Heritage Christian, Frelow was a part of three league championships in four years. He was named Olympic League Defensive MVP, All-CIF, and All-Area after averaging 12.5 points per game and 12.9 rebounds per game over four years.
