SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt's defense put on a masterclass Saturday morning at Cox Stadium, holding San Francisco State without a single shot on goal en route to a 0-0 draw that keeps the Jacks unbeaten in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play.
The Jacks (4-3-4, 2-0-2 CCAA) dictated the pace from the opening whistle, outshooting the Gators (1-7-3, 1-2-1 CCAA) by a commanding 16-1 margin. Humboldt's back line—led by Kyla Okamoto, Karlie Yamada, Payton Heaney, and Camryn Patten—locked down the defensive third, while goalkeepers Ari Beddoes and Carson Thomson-Terrel combined for the team's fifth straight shutout of the season without facing a shot on frame.
On the attack, the Jacks peppered the Gator goal with eight shots on target. Karsyn Ross led the way with two shots on goal, while Frida Duran Arellano, Morgan Young, Nicole Beauchemin, Alexis Blue, and Annie Hoffman each tested the keeper. Humboldt's offensive pressure also earned five second-half corner kicks, keeping San Francisco State pinned deep in its own end for long stretches.
Despite the offensive dominance, the Gators' goalkeeper, Kylie Tone, turned away every attempt to preserve the scoreless draw. Tone's biggest save of the game came in the 72nd minute, deflecting a a penalty kick attempt from Nicole Beauchemin.
The result extends Humboldt's unbeaten streak in conference play to four matches, maintaining the Jacks' hold on first place in the CCAA standings heading into the afternoon slate of games.
Cal Poly Humboldt will return home next week to continue CCAA action at College Creek Field, looking to build on its unbeaten conference streak and maintain its spot atop the standings.
Humboldt will host Stanislaus State on Friday at 12:30 PM for their "Pink Match" and Cal State San Bernardino on Sunday at 11:30 AM for Senior Day.
