Lumberjack Wrestling Kicks Off Season with Intrasquad at Lumberjack Arena

ARCATA, Calif. -- Cal Poly Humboldt men's wrestling will officially open its 2025–26 campaign this Friday, Oct. 24, when the team hosts its annual Black vs. Green Intrasquad match at Lumberjack Arena. Action is set to begin at 6 p.m. PT. The event will mark the program's first scheduled competition of the season and offer fans an early look at this year's roster.

LAST TIME OUT

While Friday's intrasquad marks the first official competition of the 2025–26 season, the Lumberjacks have been hard at work in the practice room preparing for another year of growth in the program's second season since reinstatement. Returning veterans and promising newcomers alike have been sharpening their technique and conditioning under the Zalesky brothers leadership.

The exhibition will feature several key returners from last season's lineup, along with a group of first-year wrestlers eager to make their mark in front of a home crowd. The event serves as both a team evaluation and a tune-up before the Jacks open their official schedule next month.

BLACK VS. GREEN WRESTLE OFF

Friday's intrasquad will feature head-to-head bouts across multiple weight classes as teammates face off in competitive matchups. The evening will showcase Humboldt's depth and internal competition, with wrestlers looking to secure starting spots ahead of the regular season.

Fans can expect an exciting, high-energy atmosphere as the Lumberjacks take the mat at Lumberjack Arena for the first time this fall. The event also provides an opportunity for the community to connect with the team and support the continued growth of wrestling at Cal Poly Humboldt.

HOW TO WATCH

Fans are encouraged to attend the Green & Black Intrasquad at Lumberjack Arena. Admission is free. It will also be live streamed on FloCollege for fans unable to attend. 

UP NEXT

Following Friday's intrasquad, Cal Poly Humboldt will officially begin its season at the College of the Redwoods Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 1 in Eureka, Calif.
