Jacks Punch Their Ticket! Cal Poly Humboldt Secures Postseason Berth

ARCATA, Calif. -- The California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) officially announced that Cal Poly Humboldt men's basketball has punched its ticket to the CCAA Tournament in San Marcos, set for March 6-8, following the completion of this weekend's conference games.

After having just six weeks to build a team and finishing in last place with a total of six wins (three in conference) during the 2023-24 season, head coach Chris Tifft and the Lumberjacks have turned things around in 2024-25. They have clinched a postseason berth and currently sit tied for fourth place with a record of 15-10 (11-9 CCAA). The Jacks still have two home games to play this week, which will determine whether they enter the CCAA Tournament as the No. 3, No. 4, or No. 5 seed.

With two home games still to play before the CCAA Tournament, the Jacks have made remarkable strides in just under two seasons. The 2024-25 season marks the first winning season since 2018-19, and depending on the results this week, marks the first season above .500 in conference play since the 2015-16 season. The Jacks have also received votes in the D2CSC regional rankings three times and cracked the Top-10 poll twice for the first time since 2021.

Against conference opponents, this 2024-25 team:
  • Is one of two teams (Chico State being the other) to take down first place and nationally ranked Cal State Dominguez Hills
  • Has earned their first season sweep over Cal State San Bernardino since the 2015-16 season, and beat CSUSB on the road for the first time since 2017
  • Defeated Cal Poly Pomona for the first time since December 31, 2018, snapping an 11-game losing streak to the Broncos
  • Has posted a six-game winning streak, marking the program's longest stretch since February 2015
This week at home, the Jacks will take on Cal State San Marcos on Thursday (7:30 PM) and and Sonoma State on Saturday (5:00 PM). Saturday will be senior night and have FREE general admission for fan appreciation. Use the promo code JACKS2025 at this link (click here) to reserve your tickets
