CHICO, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt men's track and field delivered an outstanding performance at the 2025 Wildcat Invite, with multiple top-three finishes and historic all-time marks in program history.
Leading the way was Damien Greenwood, who secured first place in the javelin, while Ruari Mulrey (discus), Carson Smith (1500m), Joseph Gonzalez (shot put), and Michael Payan (pole vault) each earned runner-up finishes in their respective events. Humboldt also saw strong third-place finishes from Ryan Castro (100m), Walker Dorris (110 hurdles), Joey Bowser (400m), and the men's 4x400m A relay team that consisted of Donovan Bailey, Jamie Saunders, Joey Bowser, and Dylan Ochoa.
The Lumberjacks etched their names into the program's history books, as Joseph Gonzalez's shot put performance now ranks second all-time in Humboldt history, while Michael Payan moved up to third all-time in the pole vault.

The Cal Poly Humboldt men's team secured a strong second-place finish with a score of 131.5 points. Chico State claimed the top spot with 387.5 points, while Humboldt outpaced the other teams, including Butte (51 points) and Dominican (Cal.) (45 points).
The Lumberjacks will look to build on this momentum as they prepare for their next competition in Sacramento on March 21 and 22 at the Sacramento State Hornet Invite.
