ARCATA, Calif. -- Cal Poly Humboldt head men's basketball coach DJ Broome announced on Thursday the signing of junior forward, Zaveion Bineyard.
"I'm really excited about the versatility Zaveion brings," stated Broome. "He's a guy that can play and guard multiple positions, and hurt you both inside and on the perimeter."
Bineyard transfers to Cal Poly Humboldt from Nelson University, a National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Division I program. The 6'8" forward will enter his junior season after two years with the Warriors. As a sophomore, he averaged 15.9 points per game on 59.6% shooting from the field and 38.8% from three-point range, while adding 5.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists across 30 appearances. This past season, he earned First Team All-Conference and Second Team All-Region honors. Bineyard ranked among the NCCAA's top-10 in field goal percentage and blocked shots, and in the top-20 in steals. He is also a national champion, joining recently announced teammate Rob Jenkins in capturing the NCCAA title last season, when Nelson defeated Columbia International in the championship game.
