ARCATA, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt women's soccer battled through a physical match on Thursday evening, earning a 0-0 draw against CSU Pueblo at Art and Lorraine Gonzales Stadium. The Lumberjacks controlled most of the contest, holding a significant advantage in shots and corner kicks, but were unable to find the back of the net.
The Lumberjacks (1-2-2) tallied 17 total shots with seven on goal, while limiting the ThunderWolves to just two shots and a single attempt on frame. Humboldt also dominated on set pieces, earning 11 corner kicks compared to CSU Pueblo's one.
Despite Humboldt's consistent offensive pressure orchestrated by Karsyn Ross, who led in shots with five, CSU Pueblo was able to squeak out a draw because of their goalkeeper, who made six saves to keep the match scoreless. The 'Jacks created multiple scoring opportunities in the final minutes, including a corner kick and a blocked shot in the 88th minute, but could not convert before the final whistle.
On the defensive end, Humboldt's back line had maintained defensive pressure, limiting the ThunderWolves chances at scoring and not allowing any dangerous opportunities in open play.
