NEWPORT, Ore. – The Cal Poly Humboldt women's triathlon team will continue its 2025 season on Sunday, Sept. 28 at the Newport Harbor Triathlon in Newport, Oregon. The Lumberjacks will look to build on their dominant start at Lake Siskiyou and test their depth against a strong field.
LAST TIME OUT
Humboldt opened its season with a commanding performance at the Mt. Shasta Tinman Triathlon, racing head-to-head with Willamette University. The Lumberjacks placed eight athletes in the top nine overall, claiming the top six spots and outscoring Willamette 115-81.
Sophomore Averill Payne led the charge, finishing first overall with a time of 1:03:17. She was closely followed by teammates Anna Hanstveit (1:05:07), Poppy Edge (1:05:16), and Emma Hanstveit (1:06:05). Freshman Kallen Mutchie rounded out the top five at 1:06:57, while Teagan Farrell (1:10:29), Rylee Morris (1:11:11), and Eve Wendley (1:11:21) also cracked the top 10.
Other finishers for Humboldt included Alexa Blakey (1:14:06), Evelyn Higgins (1:14:36), Aydee Arredondo (1:15:55), Sierra Erlandon (1:18:34), and Camille Shaver (1:21:03).
NEWPORT HARBOR TRIATHLON
The Newport Harbor Triathlon will challenge the Lumberjacks with a competitive field and a fast, technical course in coastal Oregon. Humboldt will look to continue its strong early-season momentum while giving valuable race experience to its young roster. The race will consist of a 500 yard swim, 12 mile bike, and 3.1 mile run.

Following the Newport Harbor Triathlon, the Lumberjacks will have less than a week of training and preparation as they gear up for their next event at the Prairie State Collegiate Cup in Clinton, Ill. on Saturday, Oct. 4.
