Box Score HONOLULU, Hawai'i – Cal Poly Humboldt volleyball opened its 2025 season Thursday evening with a challenging matchup against nationally ranked No. 9 Chaminade at McCabe Gym. The Jacks battled but ultimately fell in straight sets (15-25, 10-25, 17-25) to the Silverswords, who improved to 1-4 on the year.
Making her mark right away, Brielle Wilson powered the Jacks' attack with a team-high nine kills on an efficient .500 hitting percentage (9-2-14) while also dishing out a team-best eight assists and adding three digs. Freshman Addison Bookstaber shined in her collegiate debut, tallying four kills on seven swings for an impressive .429 hitting clip.
On the defensive side, Sophia Spoja anchored the back row with a match-high 10 digs, while Rahni Greene and Graysen Trupp combined for three blocks at the net. The Jacks also picked up service aces from Hollis Downing and Claire Crawford.
As a team, the Jacks registered 23 kills and 22 digs while showing flashes of efficiency in the first and third sets against one of the nation's top programs. Chaminade, led by Leilani Ama's 10 kills and five aces, finished the match hitting .378 with 38 kills.
Cal Poly Humboldt (0-1, 0-0 CCAA) continues its Hawaiian road trip tomorrow with two matches against University of Colorado, Colorado Springs (1:00 PM/10:00 AM HST) and Hawai'i Hilo (7:00 PM/4:00 PM HST).
