Lumberjacks Set for Final Road Weekend in Seaside and Turlock

SEASIDE, Calif. - The Cal Poly Humboldt women's soccer team will play its final two road matches of the regular season this week, facing Cal State Monterey Bay on Thursday, Oct. 22, and Stanislaus State on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Humboldt will meet the Otters at 4 p.m. at Cardinale Stadium in Seaside before traveling to Turlock for a 4 p.m. match against the Warriors at Warrior Stadium.

LAST TIME OUT

Humboldt enters the weekend with a 6-5-5 overall record and a 4-3-3 mark in CCAA play following a 2-2 draw at Fresno Pacific.

The Lumberjacks opened the scoring in the 26th minute when Alia Prentiss found the back of the net off an assist from Marissa Volpe. Fresno Pacific answered with goals on each side of halftime to take a 2-1 advantage, but Humboldt responded late.

Kyla Okamoto converted a penalty kick in the 84th minute to level the match and secure a conference point for the Lumberjacks. The goal was Okamoto's third of the season.

Humboldt controlled much of the statistical battle, outshooting Fresno Pacific 23-6 and holding a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Lumberjacks also earned four corner kicks while limiting the Sunbirds to one.

MEETING THE OTTERS

Humboldt will open the weekend Thursday against Cal State Monterey Bay at Cardinale Stadium.

The Otters enter the match with a 6-2-6 overall record and a 4-2-4 conference mark. Cal State Monterey Bay has gone unbeaten in its last eight matches, most recently earning a 2-2 draw against Cal State San Bernardino.

Thursday's contest begins an important closing stretch for both programs as the CCAA postseason race enters its final weeks.

FACING STANISLAUS STATE

The Lumberjacks will conclude their road schedule Saturday against Stanislaus State.

The Warriors enter the week at 7-5-2 overall and 6-4 in CCAA play. Stanislaus State recently defeated then-unbeaten Cal Poly Pomona 1-0 before falling 2-1 at Menlo.

Saturday's match will provide Humboldt with another opportunity to collect valuable points before returning home for its regular-season finale.
