ARCATA, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt men's track & field opened the outdoor season in impressive fashion Saturday, delivering event victories, personal bests, and strong all-around performances at the Green & Gold Open.
Competing on their home track, the Lumberjacks controlled multiple events and set the tone for the spring campaign with a balanced showing across sprints, distance, jumps, and throws.
FIELD
Humboldt dominated the horizontal jumps, highlighted by a first-place finish from Collin Friedman in the long jump with a personal-best 6.62m. Leo Moratti (6.48m), Joey Bowser (6.26m), and Tosh Woods (6.25m) added depth as the 'Jacks claimed six of the top seven spots.
Paul Domingue continued his strong run in the triple jump, winning the event with a personal-best 14.40m.
In the high jump, freshman Alexander Dillon cleared a personal-best 1.88m to place second overall.
The throwing group produced several strong marks. Joseph Gonzalez placed second in the shot put (15.95m) and followed with a runner-up finish in the discus (45.85m). Derek Ray added a 40.80m throw in the discus, while Benjamin Feldstein recorded a personal-best 40.34m.
In the hammer, Adam Gomez led the way with a winning throw of 48.17m, with Feldstein adding a 45.04m mark. In the javelin, Collin Friedman placed second (47.57m), while Damian Greenwood (44.91m) and AJ Perez (43.50m) contributed solid efforts.
Michael Payan cleared 4.95m to finish second in the pole vault, with Justin Vigna adding a 4.20m clearance.
TRACK
Cameron Bishop led a dominant sprint performance for Humboldt, winning both the 100 meters (10.98) and 200 meters (22.13), both personal bests. Bennett Feldenkirchen (11.24) and Thomas Clark (11.26) followed closely in the 100, while Alonzo Paul placed second in the 200 (22.76).
Rylan Huryn captured the 400 meters in a personal-best 50.86, with Adam Smith (52.63) and Zachary Blood (52.16) adding depth.
In the 800 meters, Nicholas Woolery led a strong Humboldt pack with a personal-best 1:55.14 to take the win. Saul Jimenez (1:57.70), Jose Cota (1:58.81), and James Woolery (1:58.92) followed as the 'Jacks swept the top four spots.
The distance squad impressed in the 3200 meters, where Jacob Christopher (9:24.80) and Elias Wiggins (9:27.02) finished first and second. Daniel Shaver and Jacob Cosio also posted personal bests as Humboldt placed seven runners inside the top eight.
Bryce Pearson won the 110-meter hurdles (15.83), while Jevon Cloy (15.87) and Collin Friedman (16.16) completed the sweep. Feldenkirchen added another victory in the 300-meter hurdles (38.80).
Trevor Stewart claimed the 2K steeplechase in 6:24.56.
The day concluded with Humboldt's A team of Alonzo Paul, Feldenkirchen, Adam Smith, and Bishop winning the 4x100 relay in 41.89, while the B team placed second (42.59).

Cal Poly Humboldt will continue its outdoor season next weekend with two separate meets at the Sam Adams Multi in Santa Barbara, Calif. and the Kim Duyst Invitational in Turlock, Calif. as the Lumberjacks build momentum toward the heart of their spring schedule.
