Jacks To Host Humboldt Kickoff Classic to Open 2026 Regular Season

ARCATA, Calif. - The Cal Poly Humboldt women's soccer team is set to open the 2026 regular season this week as the Lumberjacks host the Humboldt Kickoff Classic at College Creek Field. Humboldt will welcome Central Washington, Concordia University Irvine and Stanislaus State to Arcata for the two-day tournament.

The Lumberjacks (0-0-0, 0-0-0 CCAA) will open the tournament Thursday, Aug. 27, against Central Washington at 3 p.m. PT. The opening day will begin with Stanislaus State facing Concordia University Irvine at 12:30 p.m. PT.

On Saturday, Aug. 29, Humboldt will face Concordia University Irvine at 11:30 a.m. while Stanislaus State and Central Washington will close out the tournament with a 2 p.m. matchup.

LAST TIME OUT

Humboldt closed out its preseason with dominant wins over Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech last weekend at College Creek Field.

In their last match against the Owls, the Lumberjacks scored twice in each half and received goals from Hayden Anderson, Sari Murphy, Aliyah Huynh and Elisa Garcia.

Humboldt opened the scoring in the 21st minute when Anderson found the back of the net before Murphy doubled the advantage in the 35th minute off assists from Sloane Jockin and Julia Martin. Huynh added a goal in the 74th minute off an assist from Charlotte Alvarez, while Garcia capped the scoring with a penalty kick in the 86th minute.

The Lumberjacks controlled the match throughout, outshooting Oregon Tech 18-3 and putting eight shots on target. Humboldt also controlled 59 percent of possession while limiting the Owls to just two shots on goal.
The Lumberjacks' defense posted its second consecutive clean sheet, with Adea Nunes earning the win after playing the first half and Izzy Boudreaux recording two saves in the second half.

CENTRAL WASHINGTON

Central Washington will provide Humboldt with its first regular-season test of the 2026 campaign. The Wildcats will make the trip to Arcata for a 3 p.m. matchup Thursday afternoon.

The Lumberjacks will look to carry the momentum from their strong preseason into their season opener. Humboldt finished the exhibition portion of its schedule with three victories. Thursday's matchup will mark the first of two games Humboldt will play during the Humboldt Kickoff Classic.

CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY IRVINE

Humboldt will come back to College Creek Field a few days later to face Concordia University Irvine on Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m.

The Golden Eagles will open the tournament Thursday against Stanislaus State before facing the Lumberjacks two days later. Saturday's matchup will give Humboldt its second opportunity of the tournament to compete against outside competition as the Jacks continue their early-season schedule.
