ARCATA, Calif. - The Cal Poly Humboldt women's soccer team will close its 2026 season Thursday when the Lumberjacks host Chico State at 11 a.m. at College Creek Field. The regular-season finale will also mark the final match of head coach
Grant Landy's tenure at Cal Poly Humboldt. Landy announced before the season that the 2026 campaign would be his final year leading the program.
LAST TIME OUT
Humboldt enters Thursday's finale following a scoreless draw at Stanislaus State on Saturday.
Goalkeeper
Ari Beddoes turned in one of their strongest performances of the season, recording 11 saves to secure their ninth clean sheet. Beddoes faced 19 shots and stopped every attempt placed on target.
The Lumberjacks nearly broke the deadlock late in the match. Humboldt earned a penalty kick in the 85th minute, but the attempt was saved.
Hayden Anderson followed with a shot off the rebound, which was also kept out by the Warriors.
Humboldt finished with 12 shots, placing six on target, and held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The draw moved the Lumberjacks to 6-6-6 overall and 4-4-4 in CCAA play.
LANDY'S FINAL MATCH
Thursday will close a memorable chapter for Humboldt women's soccer as Landy coaches his final match for the Lumberjacks.
Landy took over the program in 2020 before coaching his first season in 2021 following the cancellation of the 2020 campaign. Under his leadership, Humboldt qualified for the CCAA Tournament in four consecutive seasons.
The program reached new heights in 2025, capturing its first CCAA Tournament championship and advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1996. The Lumberjacks advanced past Cal State San Bernardino on penalty kicks before defeating top-seeded Cal Poly Pomona and Chico State to claim the conference title.
FINAL TEST AGAINST CHICO STATE
Humboldt will close the season against a Chico State team that enters Thursday with a 7-6-4 overall record and a 6-2-4 mark in conference play.
The Wildcats most recently earned a 2-0 road victory over San Francisco State. Chico State scored once in each half and held the Gators without a shot on goal.
Thursday's match will provide the Lumberjacks with one final opportunity to compete at College Creek Field and finish the season in front of their home supporters.
